Eco-DEF Diesel Exhaust Fluid

DESCRIPTION

Eco-DEF is a high quality Diesel Exhaust Fluid designed to work in a Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) system to reduce harmful Nitrogen Oxides (NOx) to Nitrogen, Water vapor and Carbon Dioxide. The use of Eco-DEF in a SCR system contributes significantly to emissions reduction in order to meet stringent EPA standards on diesel powered vehicles.

WHAT IS DIESEL EXHAUST FLUID (DEF)?

Diesel Exhaust Fluid is a non-toxic, environmentally safe 32.5% solution of Premium Grade Urea blended with high purity water. DEF, which is injected into the diesel exhaust prior to entering the SCR unit, acts as an agent to deliver the ammonia needed to reduce NOx to water vapor and Nitrogen, both of which are natural and harmless elements found in the air we breathe every day. When DEF is dosed at a rate of 2% of diesel consumption, about one gallon of DEF is consumed for every 50 gallons of diesel fuel. For a truck that averages 6 miles per gallon, one gallon of DEF averages approximately 300 miles.

ADVANTAGES OF Eco-DEF in SCR UNITS

  • Reduction of hazardous NOx emissions from diesel powered vehicles by up to 90%
  • Increased fuel economy – Due to greater NOx conversion efficiency, trucks can experience up to 5% increase in fuel economy
  • Safe to handle and store, DEF is non-toxic and non-flammable
  • Ease of maintenance – DEF is easy to refill when using the appropriate dispensing equipment. In addition, less frequent Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF) cleaning is necessary, thus increasing the cost savings
  • Eco-DEF meets the specifications of ISO 22241-1 and DIN 70070
  • Locally manufactured and distributed in the Western States

General Information

Storage: Eco-DEF should be stored at temperatures between 12°F and 90°F. Temperatures exceeding 90°F causes the product to partially hydrolyze thus reducing the concentration. At low temperatures DEF crystallizes. Heat and insulation of tanks and pipes may be required to maintain DEF above the crystallization point of 12°F. Stainless steel, polyethylene, plasticized PVC, and other DEF suitable materials are recommended. Copper, brass, bronze, and alloys containing zinc should not be used.

Shipping Containers: LTL or Full Truckloads, Totes, Drums, 1 or 2.5 gallon bottles.

Quality Assurance: Eco-DEF is produced using premium grade urea and high purity de-ionized water to ensure the highest available quality. Each lot of Eco-DEF is tested and meets or excels ISO 222-41 and DIN 70070 specifications. Our QC Program ensures that our customers obtain the highest quality product from each of our facilities in order to protect the SCR system and extend the life of the engine.
